Ceilidh

There was plenty of tartan flying around at the Monmouth Group of Parishes Ceilidh at Monmouth Priory on Saturday 23 January.

Sixty would-be dancers came together to enjoy an evening full of fun and laughter. From 2 to 80 year olds, all enjoyed the music of “Cannon Fodder”, the music group from Bristol. The talented caller showed us how to do the dances whether in a circle, square or two straight lines.  All joined in, and as it was Burns night, we had to dance the gay Gordon. Beefburger baps and hot dogs were served all through the evening, and a raffle took place with plenty of winners.

We concluded the evening with a special grace played and sung by the band. All agreed that this was an evening to repeat. £300 was made for St Thomas’ Hall Redevelopment Fund.

St David's Day Lunch

Using Content.php

St David’s Day Lunch was another astounding success thanks to The Men. David Price and his trusty crew cooked & served a mouthwatering three course Welsh Meal. Leek & potato soup, chicken in Welsh cider & peppercorn mustard sauce or traditional faggots, followed by Welsh cheeses and Welsh cakes.
As it was Rev Catherine’s birthday, there was a surprise birthday cake, cooked & iced by the McGladdery family. It was a lovely warm social event attended by 36 and raised an astonishing £375.
